2021 Rivulet Sylvie

"100% Sylvaner from the Elsewhere vineyard. It sees quite a bit of skin contact before going into oak, some of which is new.

It was hard not to just hook straight into this. It’s so textural, so fresh, so zippy and yet so complex. It’s smoky, dry, slightly coffeed, driven by stonefruit and thoroughly engaging at every turn. It then finishes with a confident burst, especially once it’s had time to breathe. It’s very good."

Through the river and the forest, on her way to the sun. Sylvie is an old latin name for the spirit of the forest and also the name of our youngest and cheekiest winery assistant.

100% Sylvaner grown at Elsewhere Vineyard in the Huon Valley. Handpicked on 28 April 2021 and fermented with wild yeast, with a parcel on skins for 5 days and the remaining fruit fermented on skins for 21 days. Pressed to a mix of French oak barriques and puncheons with 20% new oak. Six months on lees in oak with no stirring.
